Iowa Western Community College

Phi Theta Kappa

Iowa Western scholars who have completed 12 or more college-level credit hours and achieved a GPA of 3.5 or higher are invited to become members of Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society of the Two-Year College. The society invites eligible students each semester.

In addition to being outstanding scholars, members of PTK serve as role models at school and in the community through their involvement in service and college projects. Phi Theta Kappa Officers are elected by their fellow members and represent the society and IWCC at local, regional, and international events.

There are many scholarship opportunities for members, including transfer scholarships to four-year universities nationwide. Each semester, new members are able to participate in a formal induction ceremony, where they are recognized by fellow students, faculty and staff, family members, and college administrators. Phi Theta Kappa scholars are also recognized at graduation by wearing official PTK Honors Stoles.
