About the Program

You can build a solid future in construction by enrolling in IWCC’s new Residential Construction Technology study program. In one short year, you can earn a diploma and begin using your carpentry skills for a rewarding career.

In this program, you’ll learn all phases of the industry, including these related areas:

  • Electrical
  • Plumbing
  • HVAC
  • Energy Efficient Technologies

IWCC students get real hands-on experience by constructing a residential home each year.  IWCC also partners with area industry organizations to give students a real feel for what’s involved in residential industry.


Career Information

The Construction Technology - Residential program is designed to place students into the work force upon completion of the ten-month program. This program will train students to be proficient in all phases of residential construction. Specific jobs range from being a door and window installer to being a roof, siding, and gutter installer. You will also be able to work as a residential framer and drywall installer/finisher.

Upon the successful completion of the program students will:

  • Identify and demonstrate the use of appropriate tools safely for residential construction.
  • Interpret residential blueprints and plans.
  • Demonstrate the basic practices in electrical, plumbing, and HVAC and how it relates to residential construction.
  • Identify the various types of interior finishes in residential construction.
  • Demonstrate how to construct floor, wall, ceiling, and stair systems in residential construction.
